When an art show is publicized, the powers that be send out to everyone near and far information and pictures. My artwork Why Be Normal? was published in the Taunton Gazette in a very large image with the article on the show opening.
An older gentleman was spending an inordinate amount of time in front of this painting. I went up to him and asked, “May I help you?”
“Are you the artist,” he replied excitedly.
I just met John Barradas, an artist and 1933 graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). John Barradas has made his living selling his art. He sent me a note after the opening, “In my estimation you are the greatest ARTIST I have ever met!” He drove 30 miles to the reception after seeing my painting featured in his local paper. He was kind enough to send me the newspaper clipping which he had saved.
Tomorrow night, Larry and I are going to surprise him at the opening of his show in Taunton. You never know who you are going to meet and I keep myself open to the universe. It has been a wondrous journey. I am in awe.
